תמצית

מכונת ה-DMX מתוצרת EMC , הנה מכונת דיסקים לאחסון מידע , המיועדת למערכות הקריטיות ב"סלקום" שבהן היבטי הזמן והביצועים הנם חשובים ביותר.
אנשי צוות System-Storage במחלקת תשתיות מחשוב אחראים על ניהול תצורת מכונות ה-DMX.
הקצאת שטח דיסק הינה הקצאת נפחי אחסון לשימוש אפליקציות החברה במאגר מרכזי.
זהו תהליך יומיומי מורכב אשר מחייב מומחיות ומתודולוגיה ייחודית מאנשי ה-System .

מכונות ה-DMX הן מכונות עם הרבה מאוד דיסקים , נפח אחסון – בין 40 טרה בייט ל-פטה כיום,
וממשק מכונה, api , משלהן.
הניהול שלהן, ע"י אנשי ה-System Storage, מורכב מאוד ודורש מומחיות מיוחדת.
מכונות הדיסקים הקטנות יותר מגיעות עם ממשק שמספק היצרן , שהוא קל ונוח.
באמצעות הממשק ניתן לבצע את כל הפעולות הדרושות, לקבל מידע על ביצועים, תצורה, והתראות.
במכונות מסוג ה-DMX, בגלל המורכבות הגדולה, הממשק מסורבל, לא נוח ובדרך כלל נמכר כמוצר חיצוני, שלא כלול ברכישת המכונה.
נוצר מצב, שאנשי ה-System צריכים לנהל את המכונה ע"י התכתבות ישירה עם ה-api.
זאת נעשה באמצעות כתיבת סקריפטים או תוכניות קטנות כדי להבין את תצורת המכונה,
או על מנת לבצע בה שינויים.

המערכת תהווה ממשק המתבסס על ה-api של מכונת ה-DMX, ומטרתה לפשט את ניהול המכונה עבור איש ה-System .

Abstract

The DMX machine is a storage disks machine, which designate for the critical systems in Cellcom, those in which the execution time is very important.
System-Storage team in Computerization Infrastructure Department is responsible of the configuration manager in the DMX storage.
The disk field allocation is allocation of storage volume for the use of the company’s applications in the central reservoir.
This is a daily process that obligates expertness and special methodology from the system’s team.

The DMX machine contains many disks, their storage volume is between 40 Tera to 1 Peta today, and includes there own machine interface- api.
Their managing, by System team, is very complex and demands a special proficiency.
The smaller machines contain build in interface that easier and convenient.
With the interface it’s possible to execute all of the actions that need, to get information on performances, configuration and warnings.
As opposed to, the DMX machines, due to its complexity, the interface is clumsy, inconvenient, and usually been sold as external product, that do not includes.
Eventually, the System team required to manage the machine by a direct correspondence with the api.
That they do by writing scripts or little programs in order to study the machine configuration or for doing changes.

The system will be interface that based on the api of the DMX machine, and its purpose to simple the machine managing for the System team.
